How can you define your presence to the world? Do you distinctly perceive it? How are your contours defined? Are they crystallizable without delusion? What kind of vibration do you leave behind? How do you dissolve into becoming your own past? Are you quantifiable?
The central metaphor is that of the image of the atom, which can only be represented, realistically, in a fuzzy form: the cloud of the position probabilities of the electrons, whose shape, corresponding to the combination all of their wave functions, is itself constantly remodelled by ceaseless jumps of energy levels. According to the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics, it is impossible to know both the position and the movement of the electron: if we manage to determine a position, we no longer have any idea of the movement; if we perceive the movement, we cannot know the position.
With this angle, the added light on the human figure could correspond to the detection device, and the exposure, to the instant of measurement when, in particle physics, the position or the movement of the particle is determined, forcing it to materialize in one way or another, to reveal itself in a specific position from a unsettled undulation of probabilities. But, here, without completely succeeding, still doubtfully contemplating the uncertainty.
